Profile Library Terms

The rules for sharing and using community tuning profiles in the FFB-Bridge Profile Library. These add to the general Terms and Privacy policy; where this page is silent, those apply.

Draft — pending legal review. This wording is a working draft that accurately reflects our intended policy, but it has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer. It is published here for review and feedback. Treat the live policy as "the spirit of the rules below"; the binding final text will replace this notice.

Last updated: 2026-05-30 (draft).

What these terms cover

The Profile Library lets people share tuning profiles for FFB-Bridge — small files (usually JSON) that describe how the force-feedback effects should feel for a given aircraft. These terms apply whenever you upload a profile to the library, and whenever you download or use a profile from it. The library is operated by Rohsam Inc., the publisher of FFB-Bridge.

Sharing from the app is a draft, not publication

When you click "Share" in the FFB-Bridge desktop app, the profile is sent to ffb-bridge.com and held temporarily (about 30 minutes) so we can pre-fill the submission form for you. Nothing is public at this stage. It only becomes part of the library when you review the details and click Publish.

The licence you grant below, and your agreement to share the profile publicly, attach when you Publish — not when you Share. If you don't publish, the temporarily-held profile is automatically deleted when the short window lapses, and it is never added to the library, never shown to anyone, and never distributed. You can simply close the page to abandon a share.

You keep your profiles — you license them to us

When you publish a profile, you keep ownership of it. You are not signing your work over to anyone.

So that we can actually run a profile library, by publishing a profile you grant Rohsam Inc. a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, and sublicensable licence to host, store, display, reproduce, distribute, and adapt the profile, and to incorporate it into FFB-Bridge and related products and services — including commercially, for example as part of a paid in-app profile library. "Adapt" includes the technical reformatting and version migration we need to keep older profiles working as the profile format and the app evolve.

This is a licence, not a transfer of ownership. You remain free to use, publish, and license your own profile elsewhere. The licence you grant us continues even if you later remove the profile or close your account, to the extent needed for copies and adaptations already made under it (for example, profiles already distributed, or already migrated into a newer format).

What you can do with profiles you download

Anyone may download and use profiles from the library — no account needed. You may:

  • Use them with FFB-Bridge, as much as you like.
  • Modify them to suit your own setup.
  • Re-share them — including your modified versions — non-commercially, within the FFB-Bridge community (for example, by uploading them back to the library or posting them in the forum).

You may not sell profiles, and you may not redistribute them commercially. This applies to community-uploaded profiles, to the default and built-in profiles that ship with FFB-Bridge, and to any modified versions of either. Bundling profiles into a paid product or service, charging for access to them, or otherwise commercialising them outside FFB-Bridge is not permitted.

Tuning profiles are mostly numeric configuration, so copyright in them is thin. The no-selling and no-commercial-redistribution rule is therefore a condition of using the library — a contract term you agree to — not just a copyright claim. By downloading or using a profile, you agree to it.

When you upload, you promise that…

  • the profile is your own work, or you otherwise have the right to upload it and to grant the licence above;
  • sharing it does not infringe anyone else's copyright, contract, privacy, or other rights; and
  • you are not re-uploading paid, official, or third-party content that you are not allowed to share.

Profiles are provided "as is"

Profiles in the library — community and built-in alike — are provided "as is" and "as available," with no warranty of any kind, and you use them at your own risk. They are contributed by other users or by us for sharing, and they are not individually tested for your specific aircraft, simulator, or hardware.

FFB-Bridge limits (clamps) the force it sends to your joystick, but a profile can still feel wrong, too strong, or unsuitable for your setup. As with the app itself, keep your desk clear and your hands and cables away from moving parts, and arm force output only when you are ready for the stick to move. Neither the profile's author nor Rohsam Inc. is liable for how a downloaded profile behaves.

Moderation and takedown

Rohsam Inc. may remove, hide, or refuse any profile at its discretion — for example, for breaking the community guidelines, for a rights complaint or takedown request, or for any moderation reason. We can stop distributing a profile, but we cannot retrieve or recall copies that other people have already downloaded.

If you believe a profile infringes your rights, contact us at support·ffb-bridge.com with enough detail to identify the profile and your claim.

Your privacy as a contributor

Public attribution is a display handle you choose, or "Anonymous." Your email address and account identity are never shown publicly — not on a profile listing, not inside a downloaded profile file, and not in any public feed or interface. A shared profile file is designed to contain no personal information at all: only the tuning data and the public handle (or none). You may upload pseudonymously or anonymously. How we handle the account data we do hold is described in the Privacy policy.

How these terms relate to the rest of FFB-Bridge

FFB-Bridge and the Profile Library are owned and operated by Rohsam Inc. These Profile Library Terms sit on top of, and do not replace, the general Terms, the Privacy policy, the end-user terms that ship with the app, and the community guidelines. If something here conflicts with those for the narrow question of sharing or using a profile, this page governs; otherwise the general documents apply.

Changes

These terms may change as the Profile Library grows. Material changes will be reflected on this page and, when appropriate, announced in the community.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada, and the applicable federal laws of Canada.
