Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 & 2020

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024 connect through SimConnect TCP on Windows and Linux / Proton. Start the simulator, load a flight, then check the SIM status in Bridge. Use Support → Health checks if the connection does not appear.

Find the correct simulator installation

Health checks can discover both MSFS 2020 and 2024, including multiple installations. Confirm the simulator name and target path before using a repair. For Steam on Windows, the usual folders are %APPDATA%\Microsoft Flight Simulator and %APPDATA%\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Store installations use the FlightSimulator or Limitless package’s LocalCache folder.

Review and repair SimConnect

Under Support → Health checks, run checks and inspect SimConnect config and SimConnect reachability. Use port adopts a detected listening port for Bridge. Fix… previews the selected installation and XML change before writing. The repair preserves existing entries and backs up an unreadable file before replacing it. Restart the repaired simulator so it reads the configuration.

Linux and Proton

A SimConnect entry using a privileged port such as 500 can fail under Proton. Bridge’s repair adds a separate unprivileged TCP entry, normally port 5111. Select the correct 2020 or 2024 prefix in the repair dialog and restart that simulator afterwards. For a nonstandard install, FFB_BRIDGE_MSFS_PREFIX can identify the prefix; FFB_BRIDGE_MSFS_CONFIG can identify the exact SimConnect.xml.

Choose the simulator when both are installed

Settings → Session offers automatic detection or an explicit simulator choice. A changed choice takes effect after restarting Bridge. Do not use Mock Sim as a connection selector: it is a separate bench-test input source and is unavailable while live simulator telemetry is active.

Check a live flight

Load an aircraft, check its identity in the status strip and confirm the intended force profile before arming. Learn about your aircraft opens its AirframeDB reference separately. Missing optional aircraft telemetry can limit individual effects; connected status does not guarantee every third-party aircraft exposes every feature. Pause quiets dynamic effects; a stale or lost stream is handled by the force watchdog.

Trim compensation

AY90 and AY210 can use trim compensation with matching MSFS 2024 aircraft. Support depends on the aircraft’s control and trim telemetry; this is not a blanket MSFS 2020 or third-party add-on guarantee.

In MSFS, the cockpit yoke animation can differ from your physical yoke while trim compensation is active. Standard simulator input cannot independently position the animation. Assess trim using pressure relief and aircraft response.
