Trim vs Yoke force gain curve - Challenger 650

Im trying to create an ay210 profile for the Hotstart challenger 650 in XP12, the real challenger flight control system works by increasing the amount of force required to move the yoke based on trim. The more nose down trim, the harder it is to move the yoke and vice versa. There are no other control feel effects on the airplane besides that. Is there a way to tune an elevator/aileron gain curve based on the trim setting?

I'm just releasing 1.5.1 shortly with some big new features.

This request has come in a couple times, and I'm still working through the best way to enable it. So it's not in today's update, but I am actively looking into this.

Something like this, perhaps? 1.6-beta releases shortly, this feature is brand new.

Yes! Exactly, the challenger uses a simple linear pitch force vs pitch curve and trying out the beta just now I was able to replicate exactly that. I wouldn't change anything as far as that is concerned.

Unfortunately I cant get the force/ curves just right. Bombardier flight controls are spring loaded, cable connected to hyd actuators, they do not have any force dependency based on airspeed or even hydraulic pressure, the only thing that effects the spring force of the controls is the stabilizer trim position, and it effects pitch only. In this way it behaves like a FBW aircraft more than anything else, just without the computer controlled laws. Many of the force loading settings seem to be based on airspeed or g loading. Even dialing everything up to 100% I cant get enough force on the column, I need about double or triple what the software is giving me. I also need a lot more spring force around the neutral. With the moza software I can get the controls much stiffer around the neutral (like creating a "notch") and as well as the entire axis. Are you able to implement something like what moza calls " adaptive centering compensation''? That and more force overall, able to reach the limits of the device, independent from airspeed or g load, or hyd pressure is what i would need to build a challenger/crj profile.

Have you increased the hardware limits for the Moza base under hardware -> Moza

I just purchased the Hotstart CL650, so I can dive into this over the next few days. We'll get it working well, since we know it works in Cockpit, it can and will work in FFB-Bridge!

Oh man now I feel dumb, I completely missed that section, RTFM right? I'll play with that and report back, thanks!

Yes and check the new curves editor in Tuning. You can read the data ref from the CL650 (I have not yet tested this myself).

I will get the CL650 working as perfectly as technically possible, I know it’s a great plane. I have chatted with the Dev on the XP forums and can reach out to him once I’ve done my own share of debugging and testing.

Ok thats much better now, if I had just a bit more control of the area right around the neutral it would be perfect, Its still tough to get it to feel tight enough near the neutral without it becoming overly strong where you cannot move the controls through their full range. But the bigger problem im having is it seems to disconnect after about a minute of flying. No error message, but the controls get light and then disconnect from xplane.

Send me a support bundle when this happens next time. You can click on “Report an Issue” in the left nav, at the bottom.

I suspect you are hitting a safety limit since you cranked up the forces, but it should not silently stop. I’ll review the support bundle to see what’s up.

Ok just sent it over

Im testing the latest beta with the updates to the challenger profile, its a definite improvement. I still think we could do with a bit of a tighter more defined center, almost like a "notch" or gate that creates a very precise well defined neutral, especially in roll because its very sensitive. The feeling that the moza software can achieve with the "adaptive centering compensation" enabled and set to max. I tried adjusting the pitch and roll force buildup curves, and even with neutral set to 100% restoring force it doesnt seem to effect anything.

Cool, looking forward to it
