Shape how every force builds through the flight
The Tuning page sets how strong each effect is. Advanced Tuning sets how that strength changes as you fly: a light stick at approach speed and a firm one near Vne, a stall buffet that starts earlier, runway rumble that fades as you slow down. More than 40 effects, each on its own curve, felt on the stick as you edit.
A curve for every effect, against the input that drives it
Every effect has a built-in response. Switch it to Custom and draw your own, with strength going up and the driving input going across. Pitch load follows indicated airspeed, stall buffet the margin to the stall angle, runway rumble the ground speed, touchdown the sink rate at contact, and flap and gear movement their extension.
- Stick feel, airframe, engine, ground, mechanical and helicopter groups
- Drag points on the graph or type exact values in the table
- Linear, progressive and built-in presets, with 50 steps of undo
The aircraft's speeds and the live flight on the graph
Airspeed curves carry dashed lines at the aircraft's own speeds, such as Vs0, Vs, Vne or Vmo, from the Aircraft Library and the simulator. While you fly, a dot marks where the aircraft is on the curve and the readout gives the input and the strength. Edits reach the stick as you make them.
- A tag on each effect: active with its level, off now, waiting for its event, or not sent by this simulator
- How this curve works says what 100% means and which points to move
- The saved curve or the built-in law drawn behind yours
From the takeoff roll to the touchdown
Runway rumble, gear bumps, brake shudder, nosewheel shimmy and reverse thrust each scale with ground speed on a curve you set. The touchdown thump follows the sink rate at contact, and flap and gear movement follow how far they have travelled.
- Fade the runway rumble below taxi speed, or keep it to the end of the rollout
- Set how much harder a firm landing hits than a soft one
- Grass and ice still scale the rumble by surface type
Helicopter effects with their own laws
Profiles set up for rotorcraft add six curves: ETL shudder against airspeed, vortex ring state buffet against descent rate, retreating blade stall toward Vne, two-per-rev, skid scrape, and rotor rumble against rotor RPM.
- Set the speed band where the ETL shudder peaks
- On a fixed-wing profile they carry a rotorcraft tag and stay off
- The same editor, presets and undo as every other curve
Try a curve on a flight you already flew
Open a recorded flight in Black Box, change a curve in its Tune tab, and Pro recalculates the forces with your draft for the selected segment or the whole flight. The draft's lines are drawn beside the recorded ones, and the recording itself stays as it was.
- Select the approach and compare Recorded with Draft
- Every change listed with its recorded and draft values
- Fly the result by choosing the new profile on the Profiles or Tuning page
Saved in the profile, starters left as they were
Save changes writes the curves into the active profile together with any other unsaved tuning. On a built-in starter, Save as new profile creates your own copy and leaves the starter untouched. Revert one curve from the effect list, or discard every change at once.
- The number of changed curves at the top, with an Edited filter
- Copy a pitch curve to roll, or a roll curve to pitch
- Curves are stored in the profile file with the rest of its settings
