Built for the pilots who actually use it.

Many FFB-Bridge pilots have been flying for decades. Visual contrast and Text size make the whole app easier to read, and Voice Control in FFB-Bridge Pro lets you change settings and ask questions without taking your hands off the controls.

FFB-Bridge Dashboard in high-contrast visual mode: brighter labels, clearer borders, labeled effect-group swatches
High contrast strengthens labels, borders, focus rings, and effect-group colors across the whole app.
Designed for

The design research behind Visual contrast started from the people who actually fly with FFB-Bridge.

  • Simmers from about 40 to 85
  • Cataracts and post-cataract vision
  • Red/green and other color-vision differences
  • Older monitors, laptop panels and TVs
  • Glare, dim rooms and dark cockpits
  • A quick glance while flying
Visual contrast

One setting, the whole app

Settings → General → Visual contrast offers Standard and High contrast. High contrast strengthens text, borders, focus rings, buttons, status pills and the Dashboard's effect colors on every page, in Light, Dark and System themes. It changes how the app looks and leaves every force as it was.

Stronger text Brighter dark-mode labels, darker light-mode labels, clearer secondary text.
Clearer structure Stronger card, row, and panel borders; more visible sidebar and page separation.
Visible focus & controls Stronger focus rings, button and status-pill borders, and checkbox outlines.
Labeled effect colors Each of the five Dashboard effect groups has its own color, label and fixed position, so hue is never the only cue.
FFB-Bridge Settings → General with Visual contrast set to High contrast
Settings → General → Visual contrast: choose Standard or High contrast. It applies immediately and persists.

How it was designed

Visual contrast came out of a written design study of the audience, the accessibility standards and the app's palette. Four principles shaped it.

Contrast is more than hue Brightness, borders, labels and order carry meaning alongside color, which helps both color-vision differences and reduced contrast sensitivity.
The whole app changes Helper text, checkboxes, focus rings and idle states all strengthen, because someone with cataracts needs more than clearer swatches.
Same layout, easier to read The compact layout a cockpit utility needs stays as it is. Only legibility changes.
No diagnosis needed There is no list of clinical conditions to choose from. One plain setting serves anyone who wants clearer separation.

High contrast aims for 7:1 contrast for readable text, the WCAG AAA level, and at least 3:1 for borders, focus rings and swatches. Both themes measured above those targets when the palette was set.

Text size

Larger text in the same layout

Settings → General → Text size scales the app's type to 110% or 120%. It applies immediately and is remembered the next time you open the app.

Every text role Labels, small print, body text, readouts and headings scale together with their line spacing, so the hierarchy stays intact.
Aircraft reading view Aircraft articles on the Aircraft page have their own smaller and larger buttons, from 87% to 137%, and one click returns to 100%. The size is saved.
Works with Visual contrast Text size and High contrast combine in any theme.
Voice Control Pro

Hands on the controls, eyes on the simulator

Voice Control lets you change forces, switch pages and ask questions by speaking. Hold push-to-talk on the keyboard or a joystick button and say what you want, in VR or on one screen, without hunting for a slider.

Say the change “Less runway rumble” or “engine rumble to thirty percent”. Every change goes to a draft you can undo.
Ask instead of reading Ask for the crosswind, the next waypoint or how to assign beep trim. Answers come from the simulator and the manual.
Stop by voice The emergency stop phrase works without a wake word and stops all force output immediately.

Questions

Accessibility, answered.

Does Visual contrast change the force feedback?

No. It only changes the app's visual palette. Profiles, tuning, effects, and device output stay the same.

Is this only for color-blind users?

No. It helps color-vision differences, but it's also for cataracts, aging eyes, dim rooms, glare, older displays, and anyone who wants clearer UI separation.

Does it work in light and dark mode?

Yes. Visual contrast works with the app's Light, Dark, and System theme settings.

Does the Dashboard still use colors?

Yes, and color is never the only cue. Effect groups also use labels, a fixed order, larger swatches and chip text.

What does Text size scale?

Every text role in the app: labels, small print, body text, readouts and headings, with their line spacing. The Aircraft page's reading view has its own size control.

Is Voice Control in the free app?

Voice Control is part of FFB-Bridge Pro. Visual contrast and Text size are in both FFB-Bridge and FFB-Bridge Pro on Windows, Linux and macOS.

Easier to read. Same forces.

Visual contrast and Text size are in every build of FFB-Bridge and FFB-Bridge Pro on Windows, Linux and macOS. Voice Control is part of FFB-Bridge Pro.
