Hi, newbie here (Linux, X-Plane, AB9)

Hi FFB-Bridge and community, thank you for making me aware in https://forums.x-plane.org/forums/topic/311849-current-force-feedback-situation/?page=2#comment-3044982 about FFB-Bridge and Linux-support ;)

I had a Sidewinder FFB in FS9 and knew I wanted FFB again after a 10 years-flightsim hiatus and switch to Linux so I've been watching for X-Plane/Linux compatibility.

So now I decided I'll do it. I read through the docs (well done! Really impressed). I tried your Linux app (without the stick yet) and it starts fine. In support › health checks I saw "X-Plane reachable" which gave me confidence.

From reading here I suppose the AB9+MH16 is my best bet. So I am going to order one. I want to position it in front of my chair, probably on a ~30cm pedestal but I'll probably make my mind up how to do it when I have it here.

Thank you for this, I am sure I'll be sticking around. I see the energy you put into this and am happy to support financially.

Thank you! Appreciate the kind words. Yes, this is why I built it - to bring my own stick back to life. And yes, the AB9 works great in Linux (and Mac). You can also get the Sidewinder on eBay (depending on where you are in the world). That's a cheap way to test it out.

I have the Sidewinder FFBv2, the older Sidewinder Pro (which also works via a Teensy USB->Gameport adapter.. Ffb-Bridge recognizes and drives it fine), and an AB9 as my primary sticks.

That is awesome. I don't have that Sidewinder any more and I remember it was not so tight and precise as I would wish for nowadays so I'll spend the money. I am prepared to spend it for over a year now and just waited for the right moment ;)

Yes, certainly the AB9 is in a different league, very premium. It feels "worth" the price (this is my opinion, I'm not sponsored by Moza or anything).

Also, the MH16 isn't really necessary. It works, but it will work equally well with the Airbus style stick - this has nothing to do with the force feedback. So don't think you have to have this exact stick, any AB9 compatible stick will work. I'm talking to the base and not the stick.

I'll try the MH16. I think I'll like the various buttons and coolie-hats...

Btw: I use a MIDI-Controller (novation Launch Control XL Mk2) with [pretty crude code](https://github.com/jonaseberle/midi-to-joy) to make the MIDI device emulate 2 joysticks with 48 axii and some buttons with [uinput](https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/input/uinput.html). That's overkill, but I use it for prop/mixture/throttle/3 trims currently.

I like tinkering to a certain degree.

I'm trying to build something entirely different and new, with features never done before. I'd really appreciate feedback from experienced users like yourself.
