I noticed this was added in the 1.4.1-beta.8. Would it be possible to do something similar for propeller aircraft?

Hmm possibly, but is this a real thing on propeller planes? Do pilots feel the prop rotating for a long time after the engine shuts down? Does that even come through as a vibration?

i can see looking into adding it for a windmilling prop in flight, say both engines shut down or whatever.

Could any real pilots chime in, perhaps? Is this a real thing in the real world - you'd expect to feel the prop through the frame/yoke/stick in real life?

Fair question. I'm a sim pilot only so can't answer that, but this is AI's answer regarding the 172. So maybe take it with a grain of salt:

Yes, you can feel the engine shake and rock as the propeller stops. Specifically, you feel the final compression strokes, engine mount vibrations, and the physical rocking of the heavy propeller mass transmitted through the airframe and the control column just before it quits completely.What You Feel on ShutdownThe Shudder: As fuel runs out or spark is cut via the mixture control, individual cylinders fire one or two last times against compression, creating a distinct chugging or shaking sensation.The Torque Rock: The physical rotational mass and gyroscopic inertia of the fixed-pitch prop cause a small sideways or rocking jolt to the airframe as rotation drops to zero.Yoke Transmission: Because the engine mounts are rigidly bolted to the firewall and the entire cabin structure vibrates, your hands resting on the control yoke will feel that final rough transition from running to dead stillness.

The Moza software also does this when the conditions are right. This won't apply to all aircraft of course.

The other aspect is that for most of us, the yoke is the only FFB we get from the aircraft. So, I'm ok with some specific forces that would normally only be felt through the seat to be transferred to the yoke so that we have some sort of feedback even if it isn't strictly realistic. Just my opinion of course.

Yeah, but what I'm talking about is not the last few bits of force coming out as the engine stops.. it's whether the propeller spinning freely with the engine totally off (like not in the final few seconds.. totally off) produces any force/feeling. Adding this feeling of the engine stopping is different, and I could perhaps improve that.

On a helicopter, though, you can turn off the engine and autorotate the blades and fly, and you will feel the blades spinning.

But on a smaller plane? I know what you're saying about the feedback through the yoke, I have a similar perspective. But equally, if this is something that you simply never feel at all in real life? Then it's not worth adding.

Still, I'll look into it, and collect more perspectives from people before deciding one way or another.

Yeah, that's fair. It just feels a bit jarring when you go from the feedback of the engine running and propwash to completely dead the moment the simulator reports engine off. In the grand scheme of things, it's lower on the list of important things.
