improve trim documentation regarding sim bindings and ffb-brdige bindings

After reading the docs, I don't understand what trim bindings I should use in the sim and/or in FFB-Bridge for each of the three trim types. I am using MSFS 2024. Take for example the Cabri G2, I am not using force trim. Do I set up trim bindings in the sim, AND then set beep trim in FFB-Bridge->Hardware to match the bindings I have in the sim?

Yeah, the thing with the custom helicopters is that I need to write documentation for each one separately since they all do things a little differently (don't ask me about HPG's AFCS...)

But for now, to answer your question:

With the Cabri G2, bind the trim in MSFS only. Leave FFB-Bridge's beep trim unassigned.

Why: FFB-Bridge's three trim settings are all part of its force-trim system, which physically moves where the stick holds. The Cabri has no force trim, so its profile has that system off, and FFB-Bridge's beep trim does nothing for it. The sim's own trim works as normal.

The rule for any helicopter:

No force trim (Cabri, Robinsons, Schweizer): bind trim in the sim, nothing in FFB-Bridge.

Force trim (Bell 206, H125, Airbus types): assign force trim release and beep trim in FFB-Bridge → Hardware → Helicopter, and leave the sim's trim unbound, because FFB-Bridge is already moving the stick and the sim reads that position.

The two never need to match: FFB-Bridge reads your stick's buttons directly and sends nothing to MSFS.

Hope that helps, and yes I shall improve the docs soon :)

I still can’t really wrap my head around how to setup the sim and ffb bridge for afcs helicopters (mainly HPG 145 and Taogs AS365). If I unbind the beep trim commands in msfs2024 the upper modes (hdg hold, alt hold etc) don’t seem to work anymore. If I was to unbind them in ffb bridge I would have to rebind them for helicopters in which I want Hardware trim right? And if I bind it in ffb bridge and the sim, whenever I deactivate the upper modes and then press trim release, the helicopter moves around a lot, because the real stick position does not match what the sim currently thinks.

Is there an elegant way around this?

Not yet, I need to build custom wizards for a few helicopters (HPG) as they do things in a way that needs settings on both their end (via their EFB/Tablet) and in FFB-Bridge.

I'm currently focused on finishing up Pro, but once that's launched I will return to this. I want this experience to also be magical, and so far, it's really not.

I'll get to it soon.. only one of me :)

I habe build my own ESP32 FFB Cyclic and Collective FFB Stick (with Steppers for Trim) and I had strange issues with Force trim release, MSFS 2024 and Airbus H145. I have an hardware beep trim and trim release and only configured the MSFS trim release, beep trim buttons, not in FFB-Bridge. The Heli have made some strage behavior on trim release and won't follow the Autopilot. I don't know what I've done wrong but after using "XPForce" everything works fine, so may be I have configured FFB-Bridge wrong or it has may be a bug. There are known issues with heli, beep trim, trim release, and Airbus H145?

Thx

Hey can you use the Report an Issue and also describe what the strange behaviour is? HPG needs custom trim built for it but it will be helpful to learn what’s wrong and what you’d expect.

Hi, it was late last night when I found out that it works with XPForce. I just wanted to ask if these kinds of issues are known. I'll run some more tests with FFB-Bridge today or tomorrow and write everything down in detail, because I'd like to use FFB-Bridge since it offers significantly more features than XPForce, which is already quite old. Thank you very much!

Hey, Yeah, the HPG helicopters need some work to tune them up. Meanwhile, another user said this works perfectly

"here is a screenshot of the settings for the H145 that I use with AB9 and FFB-G and your HPG 145 profile on MSFS 2024.

I set the TR "Trim Release (HOLD)" in "HPG Airbus H145 Key Bindings Cyclic Control"

"
