Kenne das Flugzeug

The Citation X is Cessna's Model 750, first flown in 1993. Its strongly swept wing and large rear-mounted engine nacelles set it apart from earlier Citations. The later X+ stretched the cabin and introduced further changes.

The X-Plane documentation describes its flight deck and powered control systems, which differ from those of the smaller CJ family and newer Longitude.

The X+ updates a design built around speed

The later X+ combined updated engines and a Garmin G5000 flight deck with a revised cabin. Its autothrottles and touchscreen controllers changed the pilot’s working environment from the Honeywell-equipped original. Keeping the variant attached to a flight report matters when comparing its cockpit and handling with a simulator representation.

Exploring the fast and slow ends of the X+

Gerzanics arrived with previous Citation X and Garmin experience, but the X+ still offered plenty to explore. During preparation, he liked the detailed airport map for taxiing while using a paper checklist with Pitcher. The flight then took him from high-altitude cruise through a fast descent and into low-speed airwork, exposing a much wider range than a simple transport trip.

He found the aircraft responsive during the descent and manageable in the slower exercises. Hand-flying the approach was comfortable, and he credited the landing gear with improving an imperfect touchdown. A later simulated engine failure after departure required considerable rudder effort before the aircraft was trimmed for the circuit. His report combines appreciation of the updated cockpit with the physical work still involved in flying the jet.

Eight flights make the country feel smaller

Sigari had four days and eight flights to become acquainted with the X+, beginning with a crossing from California to Rhode Island. The itinerary continued through several different airports and conditions before returning to California. What stayed with him was how quickly familiar distances passed: a machine he had long wanted to fly changed his sense of the size of the country.

The Garmin cockpit became comfortable fairly quickly, helped by his familiarity with related equipment. He found the powered controls predictable, but landing introduced habits that took a few attempts to absorb, especially getting the nose down after touchdown. The long trip also gave him time to appreciate the revised cabin. His enthusiasm comes from repeated use over several days in the X+ and its particular cockpit, rather than the earlier Citation X.

An introductory flight interrupted by a warning

North first used a simulator to become familiar with the Citation X’s Honeywell displays, then flew the aircraft itself. He liked the visibility in the landing pattern and found other traffic easy to pick out. The introduction changed direction when a low-hydraulic-quantity warning appeared, prompting demonstration pilot James Lapine to return to the Cessna facility at Wichita.

In the publisher’s retrospective, North recalls mild turbulence on the return, which he felt was not strongly transmitted through the wing into the cabin, and prompt engine response in the pattern. Another flight was arranged with Lee Herman. The accessible account covers this interrupted introduction; it does not describe the outcome of the later flight.

X-Plane 12

The Citation X is Cessna's Model 750, first flown in 1993. Its strongly swept wing and large rear-mounted engine nacelles set it apart from earlier Citations. The later X+ stretched the cabin and introduced further changes.

This starting point selects Cessna Citation X. Its aircraft-level settings do not select a particular developer’s custom systems.

Spring resistance builds with the selected airspeed response. A separate aerodynamic term adds speed-dependent control load.

Valid trim provides the configured pressure relief. Autopilot following is enabled for supported control references.

Controls and trim

FlightFX's Citation X guide explicitly identifies hydraulic primary controls and separates the pitch-trim wheel input from an autopilot movement target. The original MSFS 2020/2024 product and native MSFS 2024 V2 are different software generations. The guide's download label says v1.2 while its footer says v1.1, revised 2025-08-29; that version ambiguity is retained rather than assumed away.

About the values

The gains are normalized profile settings. They describe the chosen effect balance; hand force depends on the device and its output limits. IAS references are tuning values rather than operating limits. Physical acceptance of this revision remains pending.

Master gain & control system

Master gain85%

Warum hier: Scales overall profile strength while preserving effect balance, subject to device and output limits.

Forces

Spring strength80%

Warum hier: Hydraulic primary controls motivate an artificial-feel approximation; direct aerodynamic surface loading is not presumed at the yoke. The baseline spring is 0.8. Its low-speed blend reaches baseline strength at 90 KIAS.

FlightFX Citation X manual v1.2Exact product and documentation researchCitation XCessna Citation X POH
Spring deadband4%

Warum hier: Sets travel around the centre before the baseline spring resists. Smaller values engage it sooner.

Overall aerodynamic load25%

Warum hier: The aerodynamic-load gain is 0.25 with an indicated-speed reference of 280 KIAS. The hydraulic-load factor of 0.35 scales that modeled term; it is a selected artificial-feel approximation.

Airspeed blendingTrue

Warum hier: Allows baseline spring strength to rise with indicated airspeed where the control law permits it.

Low-speed spring floor55%

Warum hier: Sets low-speed spring strength as a fraction of baseline when blending is enabled. One keeps full strength.

Spring engagement start20 kt

Warum hier: Sets the IAS where the low-speed spring blend starts rising. This is a feel threshold, not a flight limit.

Spring engagement full90 kt

Warum hier: Sets the IAS where the low-speed blend reaches baseline strength; high-speed stiffening also uses it.

Warum hier: Sets the IAS reference for aerodynamic loading. It is an estimate, not published cruise TAS or a flight limit.

Centre firmness vs speed0%

Warum hier: The high-speed spring-stiffening gain is 0. No additional speed-driven stiffening is added; this does not disable independent aerodynamic loading.

Centre stiffening cap5

Warum hier: Limits the squared airspeed ratio used for high-speed spring stiffening; it is not a device-force cap.

Aileron load65%

Weniger: leichtere, quirligere Querruder.

Warum hier: Roll and pitch aerodynamic scales are 0.65 and 0.65, respectively. They set the aerodynamic axis balance. No custom spring-travel curve is enabled.

Elevator load65%

Warum hier: Scales pitch aerodynamic loading; pitch spring travel and trim responses are separate settings.

Max output force55%

Warum hier: Caps directed-force output. Native spring effects and device limits remain separate.

Trim

Trim relief (elevator)30%

Warum hier: Electric pitch trim is documented, but wheel input is distinct from an autopilot target and the profile authority remains estimated. Pitch authority 0.3 relieves permitted loading; hydraulic centre movement is off. Roll authority is 0.09.

FlightFX Citation X manual v1.2Exact product and documentation researchCitation XCessna Citation X POH
Trim relief (aileron)9%

Weniger: Rolltrimmung bewirkt weniger.

Warum hier: Scales supported roll-trim relief and permitted centre movement. Zero removes roll response.

Effect gains · Ground

Runway rumble40%

Rollende Untergrundvibration aus Radgeschwindigkeit und Oberflächenart: die Textur von Asphalt, Gras oder Schotter unter dem Fahrwerk.

Mehr: lautere Oberflächentextur durch den Stick.

Weniger: ruhigeres Rollen.

Warum hier: Sets rolling texture strength, modified by speed, surface and undercarriage configuration.

Gear bumps32%

Weniger: weichere Bodendetails.

Warum hier: Sets gear-bump texture during ground motion, separate from touchdown impact.

Effect gains · Airframe

Stall buffet30%

Warum hier: Sets stall-buffet strength. Zero removes the cue without changing simulator stalls or warnings.

Mach buffet22%

Warum hier: Sets high-Mach buffet strength; onset and full-strength thresholds are separate.

Flap buffet14%

Weniger: ruhigere Anflugklappen.

Warum hier: Sets flap buffet at the configured position and speed gates. Flap movement texture is separate.

Gear buffet10%

Warum hier: Sets gear aerodynamic buffet; movement and ground-contact cues are separate.

Stick shaker90%

Warum hier: Sets triggered shaker strength; inactive while the shaker feature is disabled.

Effect gains · Engine, mechanical & drag

Touchdown thump90%

Warum hier: Sets landing-impact strength; landing telemetry and response shape determine the pulse.

Reverse rumble50%

Ausrollvibration bei Schubumkehr oder Beta-Verstellung. Null für Muster ohne Umkehr.

Mehr: ein rauerer Ausrollvorgang unter Umkehrschub.

Weniger: leisere Umkehr.

Warum hier: Sets reverse-thrust vibration with valid reverser and engine conditions. Zero removes the cue.

Engine rumble6%

Warum hier: Sets estimated engine vibration using configured telemetry and response, not measured cockpit vibration.

Flap motion12%

Warum hier: Sets texture from observed flap movement; a command without movement does not establish the cue.

Autopilot follow

AP follow authority10%

Warum hier: Sets admitted AP-follow gain, not a percentage of travel. Runtime ownership and input limits still apply.
