From the A22L to the heavier A22LS

The Foxbat family developed through several weight categories. Foxbat Australia records the 450 kg A22L as its early fleet mainstay, followed by the 600 kg, light-sport-compliant A22LS in 2009. A limited intermediate A22LSA used a 544 kg limit. Those suffixes identify meaningful versions, so an A22 family name alone is not enough to choose performance figures.

A working light aircraft with Ukrainian roots

Aeroprakt founders Yuriy Yakovlev and Oleg Litovchenko had worked at the Antonov design bureau. The Australian distributor describes a Kyiv factory supported by a company airfield, flying club and school. Its first Australian demonstrator arrived in 2002, and customer A22L deliveries followed in 2004.

Direct controls and full-span flaperons

Aeroprakt USA describes pushrod-operated aileron and elevator controls and full-span flaperons. Its account characterises the controls as light and the roll response as lively. That is useful qualitative guidance for the profile, but it does not supply a measured force-versus-speed curve.

Choose the cockpit as well as the aircraft

Aeroprakt offers either a central stick or paired yokes. The same aircraft family can therefore present different hand geometry, even before a simulator add-on chooses its cockpit. Hardware force scales remain a tuning decision rather than a dimension copied from the real controls.

A broad view and a simple airframe

The distributor describes an aluminium airframe with fabric on the control surfaces and lower wing surfaces. Extensive glazing and a broad cabin are part of its identity. The fixed landing gear separates ground texture from retractable-gear cues when explaining the simulator profile.

X-Plane 12VSKYLABS

The A22-LS is a Ukrainian light sport aircraft from Aeroprakt. Its high wing, wide cabin glazing and tricycle landing gear suit recreational flying and instruction, while the represented version uses a Rotax 912 ULS engine.

This profile selects VSKYLABS Aeroprakt A22-LS for X-Plane 12.

Spring resistance builds with the selected airspeed response. A separate aerodynamic term adds speed-dependent control load.

Valid trim provides the configured pressure relief. Autopilot following is off.

Controls and trim

VSKYLABS documents light manual controls and ordinary pitch trim for its A22-LS. Its flap positions are 0, 10 and 20 degrees. The brake lever uses X-Plane's Wing Sweep assignment, which operates symmetric braking in this aircraft. The optional LSA autopilot has separate servo power; its inclusion does not establish a motorized control reference for Bridge.

Developer POH: hardware assignments, flight controls, brake lever and optional APVSKYLABS Aeroprakt A22-LS. Comprehensive LSA simulation add-on for X-Plane Flight Simulator.

The selected implementation

VSKYLABS A22-LS has Rotax, fixed tricycle gear and Wing Sweep brake assignment. Optional LSA AP and dummy throttle friction do not create control locks.

Developer POH: hardware assignments, flight controls, brake lever and optional AP

About the values

The gains are normalized profile settings. They describe the chosen effect balance; hand force depends on the device and its output limits. IAS references are tuning values rather than operating limits. Physical acceptance of this revision remains pending.

Master gain & control system

Master gain85%

Por qué aquí: Scales overall profile strength while preserving effect balance, subject to device and output limits.

Forces

Spring strength74%

Por qué aquí: The A22-LS's light manual controls motivate an airspeed-dependent stick response while retaining the profile's own centering balance. The baseline spring is 0.74. Its low-speed blend reaches baseline strength at 45 KIAS.

Developer POH: hardware assignments, flight controls, brake lever and optional APVSKYLABS Aeroprakt A22-LS. Comprehensive LSA simulation add-on for X-Plane Flight Simulator.
Spring deadband4%

Por qué aquí: Sets travel around the centre before the baseline spring resists. Smaller values engage it sooner.

Overall aerodynamic load80%

Por qué aquí: The aerodynamic-load gain is 0.8 with an indicated-speed reference of 85 KIAS. This supplies speed-dependent loading alongside the spring.

Airspeed blendingTrue

Por qué aquí: Allows baseline spring strength to rise with indicated airspeed where the control law permits it.

Low-speed spring floor55%

Por qué aquí: Sets low-speed spring strength as a fraction of baseline when blending is enabled. One keeps full strength.

Spring engagement start10 kt

Por qué aquí: Sets the IAS where the low-speed spring blend starts rising. This is a feel threshold, not a flight limit.

Spring engagement full45 kt

Por qué aquí: Sets the IAS where the low-speed blend reaches baseline strength; high-speed stiffening also uses it.

Por qué aquí: Sets the IAS reference for aerodynamic loading. It is an estimate, not published cruise TAS or a flight limit.

Centre firmness vs speed15%

Por qué aquí: The high-speed spring-stiffening gain is 0.15. It strengthens the permitted spring response above 45 KIAS, with the squared-speed ratio capped at 5.

Centre stiffening cap5

Por qué aquí: Limits the squared airspeed ratio used for high-speed spring stiffening; it is not a device-force cap.

Aileron load64%

Por qué aquí: Roll and pitch aerodynamic scales are 0.64 and 0.82, respectively. They set the aerodynamic axis balance. No custom spring-travel curve is enabled.

Elevator load82%

Por qué aquí: Scales pitch aerodynamic loading; pitch spring travel and trim responses are separate settings.

Max output force55%

Native spring effects and device limits remain separate.

Trim

Trim relief (elevator)30%

Menos: sigues sosteniendo esfuerzo aun compensado.

Por qué aquí: Ordinary pitch trim supports pitch pressure relief; an in-flight aileron-trim mechanism is not established in the selected A22-LS documentation. Pitch authority 0.3 provides load relief and permitted centre movement; roll authority is 0.

Developer POH: hardware assignments, flight controls, brake lever and optional APVSKYLABS Aeroprakt A22-LS. Comprehensive LSA simulation add-on for X-Plane Flight Simulator.
Trim relief (aileron)0%

Por qué aquí: Scales supported roll-trim relief and permitted centre movement. Zero removes roll response.

Effect gains · Ground

Runway rumble40%

Por qué aquí: Sets rolling texture strength, modified by speed, surface and undercarriage configuration.

Gear bumps25%

Por qué aquí: Sets gear-bump texture during ground motion, separate from touchdown impact.

Effect gains · Airframe

Stall buffet35%

Zero removes the cue without changing simulator stalls or warnings.

Mach buffet0%

Por qué aquí: Sets high-Mach buffet strength; onset and full-strength thresholds are separate.

Flap buffet0%

Por qué aquí: Sets flap buffet at the configured position and speed gates. Flap movement texture is separate.

Gear buffet0%

Por qué aquí: Sets gear aerodynamic buffet; movement and ground-contact cues are separate.

Stick shaker50%

Por qué aquí: Sets triggered shaker strength; inactive while the shaker feature is disabled.

Effect gains · Engine, mechanical & drag

Touchdown thump65%

Por qué aquí: Sets landing-impact strength; landing telemetry and response shape determine the pulse.

Reverse rumble0%

Por qué aquí: Sets reverse-thrust vibration with valid reverser and engine conditions. Zero removes the cue.

Engine rumble12%

Por qué aquí: Sets estimated engine vibration using configured telemetry and response, not measured cockpit vibration.

Flap motion12%

Por qué aquí: Sets texture from observed flap movement; a command without movement does not establish the cue.

Autopilot follow

AP follow authority10%

Por qué aquí: Sets admitted AP-follow gain, not a percentage of travel. Runtime ownership and input limits still apply.
