The original Junior

The original A50 Junior first flew in 1929. Its corrugated duralumin skin and open tandem seating gave a small sport aircraft the recognisable Junkers appearance. The manufacturer’s history recalls Marga von Etzdorf’s staged flight from Berlin to Tokyo in 1931 as part of the type’s record-setting early career.

A modern aircraft with an older silhouette

Dieter Morszeck and his team developed a modern A50 Junior inspired by that earlier aircraft. The brochure pairs the corrugated-metal appearance with a fuel-injected Rotax engine, modern displays, Beringer brakes and a Galaxy rescue parachute. Those changes distinguish the modern Junior from both the 1929 aircraft and other later A50 versions.

The contemporary Junior’s specification

The modern manufacturer brochure describes an open, two-seat aircraft with a 100 PS Rotax engine, a 9.84-metre span and a 105-litre fuel capacity. Its quoted cruise is 155 km/h. These numbers belong to the contemporary A50 Junior recreation, whose propulsion and equipment differ from the 1929 aircraft. Keeping that scope visible lets the corrugated-metal appearance and historical inspiration be appreciated without attributing modern specifications to the original design.

About the values

The gains are normalized profile settings. They describe the chosen effect balance; hand force depends on the device and its output limits. IAS references are tuning values rather than operating limits. Physical acceptance of this revision remains pending.

Master gain & control system

Master gain85%

Warum hier: Scales overall profile strength while preserving effect balance, subject to device and output limits.

Forces

Spring strength74%

Warum hier: Light manual controls motivate the selected reversible stick resistance. The baseline spring is 0.74. Its low-speed blend reaches baseline strength at 45 KIAS.

Developer POH: cockpit, AoA indication, pre-takeoff trim and normal proceduresVSKYLABS Aerospace Simulations Aircraft Center: VSKYLABS Junkers A50 JuniorVSKYLABS Junkers A50: Classic Tail-Dragger S-LSA for X-Plane.
Spring deadband4%

Warum hier: Sets travel around the centre before the baseline spring resists. Smaller values engage it sooner.

Overall aerodynamic load80%

Warum hier: The aerodynamic-load gain is 0.8 with an indicated-speed reference of 75 KIAS. This supplies speed-dependent loading alongside the spring.

Airspeed blendingTrue

Warum hier: Allows baseline spring strength to rise with indicated airspeed where the control law permits it.

Low-speed spring floor55%

Warum hier: Sets low-speed spring strength as a fraction of baseline when blending is enabled. One keeps full strength.

Spring engagement start10 kt

Warum hier: Sets the IAS where the low-speed spring blend starts rising. This is a feel threshold, not a flight limit.

Spring engagement full45 kt

Warum hier: Sets the IAS where the low-speed blend reaches baseline strength; high-speed stiffening also uses it.

Warum hier: Sets the IAS reference for aerodynamic loading. It is an estimate, not published cruise TAS or a flight limit.

Centre firmness vs speed15%

Warum hier: The high-speed spring-stiffening gain is 0.15. It strengthens the permitted spring response above 45 KIAS, with the squared-speed ratio capped at 5.

Centre stiffening cap5

Warum hier: Limits the squared airspeed ratio used for high-speed spring stiffening; it is not a device-force cap.

Aileron load62%

Weniger: leichtere, quirligere Querruder.

Warum hier: Roll and pitch aerodynamic scales are 0.62 and 0.82, respectively. They set the aerodynamic axis balance. No custom spring-travel curve is enabled.

Elevator load82%

Warum hier: Scales pitch aerodynamic loading; pitch spring travel and trim responses are separate settings.

Max output force55%

Warum hier: Caps directed-force output. Native spring effects and device limits remain separate.

Trim

Trim relief (elevator)0%

Warum hier: Elevator trim is documented; its exact actuator and neutral relationship are not established. Pitch relief is off, with stored authority 0; roll authority is 0.

Developer POH: cockpit, AoA indication, pre-takeoff trim and normal proceduresVSKYLABS Aerospace Simulations Aircraft Center: VSKYLABS Junkers A50 JuniorVSKYLABS Junkers A50: Classic Tail-Dragger S-LSA for X-Plane.
Trim relief (aileron)0%

Weniger: Rolltrimmung bewirkt weniger.

Warum hier: Scales supported roll-trim relief and permitted centre movement. Zero removes roll response.

Effect gains · Ground

Runway rumble40%

Rollende Untergrundvibration aus Radgeschwindigkeit und Oberflächenart: die Textur von Asphalt, Gras oder Schotter unter dem Fahrwerk.

Mehr: lautere Oberflächentextur durch den Stick.

Weniger: ruhigeres Rollen.

Warum hier: Sets rolling texture strength, modified by speed, surface and undercarriage configuration.

Gear bumps25%

Weniger: weichere Bodendetails.

Warum hier: Sets gear-bump texture during ground motion, separate from touchdown impact.

Effect gains · Airframe

Stall buffet35%

Warum hier: Sets stall-buffet strength. Zero removes the cue without changing simulator stalls or warnings.

Mach buffet0%

Warum hier: Sets high-Mach buffet strength; onset and full-strength thresholds are separate.

Flap buffet0%

Weniger: ruhigere Anflugklappen.

Warum hier: Sets flap buffet at the configured position and speed gates. Flap movement texture is separate.

Gear buffet0%

Warum hier: Sets gear aerodynamic buffet; movement and ground-contact cues are separate.

Stick shaker50%

Warum hier: Sets triggered shaker strength; inactive while the shaker feature is disabled.

Effect gains · Engine, mechanical & drag

Touchdown thump65%

Warum hier: Sets landing-impact strength; landing telemetry and response shape determine the pulse.

Reverse rumble0%

Ausrollvibration bei Schubumkehr oder Beta-Verstellung. Null für Muster ohne Umkehr.

Mehr: ein rauerer Ausrollvorgang unter Umkehrschub.

Weniger: leisere Umkehr.

Warum hier: Sets reverse-thrust vibration with valid reverser and engine conditions. Zero removes the cue.

Engine rumble12%

Warum hier: Sets estimated engine vibration using configured telemetry and response, not measured cockpit vibration.

Flap motion0%

Warum hier: Sets texture from observed flap movement; a command without movement does not establish the cue.

Autopilot follow

AP follow authority10%

Warum hier: Sets admitted AP-follow gain, not a percentage of travel. Runtime ownership and input limits still apply.
