A new four-seater meets its American audience

Wynbrandt’s 2015 report places Tecnam’s US headquarters at Sebring, established the previous year. The P2010 demonstration aircraft was still awaiting FAA approval, so the account records an introduction period rather than the later production configuration represented by every simulator.

A promising flight begins with a displaced fern

Marsh’s introduction to the P2010 included a small embarrassment outside the hangar: a tight taxiing turn knocked over a potted fern. With Shannon Yeager accompanying him and a camera recording the occasion, the flight had acquired a memorable detail before they reached the runway. In the air, Marsh found the aircraft predictable during the handling checks.

The return included practice approaches and an attempt to land following a simulated engine failure. Marsh arrived higher than intended and used a slip, but still floated beyond his chosen touchdown point.

A local test flight keeps the passengers in mind

Wynbrandt flew the P2010 while its American approval was still pending, so the evaluation stayed within the permitted local area around Sebring. Shannon Yeager accompanied him for the flight and touch-and-go landings. The particular aircraft had a cruise-oriented fixed-pitch propeller, an important detail when interpreting its takeoff and climb impressions.

Passenger comfort was a recurring theme in their conversation. Yeager worried that pilots could lose interest in flying when their families did not enjoy coming along. Wynbrandt considered the roomy cabin and easy access from that perspective, imagining how the aircraft might welcome someone new to light aviation.

Mud at Capua brings an early prototype flight down to earth

Valenta’s visit to Capua began with Italian coffee and a muddy runway. Marco Locatelli tried the surface before their flight, leaving mud on the aircraft’s tail. Valenta recognised the conditions from his own flying and was more interested in the roomy cockpit, familiar Garmin displays and rear passenger door, which reminded him of his wife’s less convenient climb into a Cessna.

Taxiing through the mud demanded attention, but the steering soon felt natural. In flight, he liked the visibility and control response while finding the trim sensitive. The landing beyond a puddle pleased him enough to joke about winning a precision-flying competition.

Free + Pro
MSFS 2020MSFS 2024AeroSachs

Tecnam unveiled the four-seat P2010 in 2011 and first flew it in 2012. European certification followed in 2014 and FAA validation in 2015. The high-wing design combines metal and composite construction. Engines and specifications differ between versions.

This profile selects AeroSachs Tecnam P2010 180HP for MSFS 2020, MSFS 2024.

Mechanical primary controls motivate sustained stick loading. Spring resistance builds with the selected airspeed response. A separate aerodynamic term adds speed-dependent control load.

The stabilator-trim wheel and optional electric equipment retain their own installation scope. Valid trim provides the configured pressure relief. Autopilot following is off.

Controls and trim

The P2010 documentation identifies stabilator pushrods, mixed aileron linkage and electric flaps. Basic pitch trim uses a wheel/cable arrangement; developer renditions separately document electric-trim and autopilot equipment. Ground-set roll trim remains distinct.

About the values

The gains are normalized profile settings. They describe the chosen effect balance; hand force depends on the device and its output limits. IAS references are tuning values rather than operating limits. Physical acceptance of this revision remains pending.

Master gain & control system

Master gain85%

Pourquoi ici : Scales overall profile strength while preserving effect balance, subject to device and output limits.

Forces

Spring strength74%

Pourquoi ici : Mechanical primary controls motivate sustained stick loading. The baseline spring is 0.74. Its low-speed blend reaches baseline strength at 65 KIAS.

Official aircraft productTecnam P2010 IO360 manufacturer AFM Ed2 Rev3; dealer hosted
Spring deadband4%

Pourquoi ici : Sets travel around the centre before the baseline spring resists. Smaller values engage it sooner.

Overall aerodynamic load80%

Pourquoi ici : The aerodynamic-load gain is 0.8 with an indicated-speed reference of 125 KIAS. This supplies speed-dependent loading alongside the spring.

Airspeed blendingTrue

Pourquoi ici : Allows baseline spring strength to rise with indicated airspeed where the control law permits it.

Low-speed spring floor55%

Pourquoi ici : Sets low-speed spring strength as a fraction of baseline when blending is enabled. One keeps full strength.

Spring engagement start25 kt

Pourquoi ici : Sets the IAS where the low-speed spring blend starts rising. This is a feel threshold, not a flight limit.

Spring engagement full65 kt

Pourquoi ici : Sets the IAS where the low-speed blend reaches baseline strength; high-speed stiffening also uses it.

Pourquoi ici : Sets the IAS reference for aerodynamic loading. It is an estimate, not published cruise TAS or a flight limit.

Centre firmness vs speed15%

Pourquoi ici : The high-speed spring-stiffening gain is 0.15. It strengthens the permitted spring response above 65 KIAS, with the squared-speed ratio capped at 5.

Centre stiffening cap5

Pourquoi ici : Limits the squared airspeed ratio used for high-speed spring stiffening; it is not a device-force cap.

Aileron load80%

Pourquoi ici : Roll and pitch aerodynamic scales are 0.8 and 1, respectively. They set the aerodynamic axis balance. No custom spring-travel curve is enabled.

Elevator load100%

Pourquoi ici : Scales pitch aerodynamic loading; pitch spring travel and trim responses are separate settings.

Max output force55%

Pourquoi ici : Caps directed-force output. Native spring effects and device limits remain separate.

Trim

Trim relief (elevator)30%

Pourquoi ici : The stabilator-trim wheel and optional electric equipment retain their own installation scope. Pitch authority 0.3 provides load relief and permitted centre movement; roll authority is 0.

Official aircraft productTecnam P2010 IO360 manufacturer AFM Ed2 Rev3; dealer hosted
Trim relief (aileron)0%

Pourquoi ici : Scales supported roll-trim relief and permitted centre movement. Zero removes roll response.

Effect gains · Ground

Runway rumble40%

Pourquoi ici : Sets rolling texture strength, modified by speed, surface and undercarriage configuration.

Gear bumps25%

Pourquoi ici : Sets gear-bump texture during ground motion, separate from touchdown impact.

Effect gains · Airframe

Stall buffet35%

Pourquoi ici : Sets stall-buffet strength. Zero removes the cue without changing simulator stalls or warnings.

Mach buffet0%

Pourquoi ici : Sets high-Mach buffet strength; onset and full-strength thresholds are separate.

Flap buffet0%

Pourquoi ici : Sets flap buffet at the configured position and speed gates. Flap movement texture is separate.

Gear buffet0%

Pourquoi ici : Sets gear aerodynamic buffet; movement and ground-contact cues are separate.

Stick shaker50%

Pourquoi ici : Sets triggered shaker strength; inactive while the shaker feature is disabled.

Effect gains · Engine, mechanical & drag

Touchdown thump65%

Pourquoi ici : Sets landing-impact strength; landing telemetry and response shape determine the pulse.

Reverse rumble0%

Pourquoi ici : Sets reverse-thrust vibration with valid reverser and engine conditions. Zero removes the cue.

Engine rumble12%

Pourquoi ici : Sets estimated engine vibration using configured telemetry and response, not measured cockpit vibration.

Flap motion12%

Pourquoi ici : Sets texture from observed flap movement; a command without movement does not establish the cue.

Autopilot follow

AP follow authority10%

Pourquoi ici : Sets admitted AP-follow gain, not a percentage of travel. Runtime ownership and input limits still apply.
